Flockerzi Named One of Division III's Most Impactful Coaches

University of Rochester basketball head coach Luke Flockerzi has been named one of the Most Impactful Coaches in Division III in 2021-22, according to media outlet Silver Waves Media.
 
The release, published late in December, spotlights numerous coaches from all across Division III who are considered some of the top mentors in the game. These coaches are ones who master the X's and O's of the sport and additionally navigate a world in which no athletic scholarships are given and student-athletes balance heavy academic workloads.
 
In order to be considered for the Most Impactful Coaches list, a coach must have at least five years coaching experience at the college level and are currently an active coach.
 
Entering this season, coach Flockerzi sports a 209-134 overall record, spanning 14 seasons as a college coach, 11 of which have been at Rochester. He has a 179-88 mark on the River Campus, for a winning percentage of .670. Flockerzi has been a part of two UAA Championship teams, in 2010-11 and 2012-13.
 
Overall, Flockerzi has had nine winning seasons at Rochester and eclipsed the 20-win mark on four occasions. He has guided the Yellowjackets to four NCAA Division III Tournaments, reaching at least the second round every time. In 2016-17, UR made the national quarterfinals (Elite 8).
 
Off the court, Flockerzi has been impactful in guiding his student-athletes to success in the classroom as well. Two individuals have earned CoSIDA Academic All-American honors, several others earned Academic All-District accolades and on multiple occasions Rochester has had individuals named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.
 
This season, Rochester sports a 7-2 record in non-conference play, with one game to go prior to UAA play beginning this weekend. The Yellowjackets take on Buffalo State tonight at 5 pm to complete their non-conference slate. Rochester takes on Emory this Saturday at noon to open the UAA conference schedule.
