Genesee Valley Park
Home of Yellowjacket Cross Country and Rowing.
Genesee Valley Park is a Fredrick Law Olmsted-designed park that is dominated by three intersecting waterways, Red Creek, the Genesee River and the New York State Barge Canal.
At 800 acres, the park is an ideal access point to a major network of trails along the river and canal as well as the route 390 bike trail and the Genesee Valley Greenway. Also included in the park are softball diamonds, multi-use/soccer fields, a cricket pitch and two 18 hole golf courses.
Within the park and located at 149 Elmwood Ave, the Genesee Waterways Center is the on water home of the Yellowjacket Women’s Varsity rowing program and Men’s Club team. The facility consists of the George and Vee Angle main boathouse with three boat bays, conference/general purpose room, coach’s office and bathroom facilities. The Ron Klausman small boathouse has two bays suited for smaller racing shells and racing kayaks and canoes. There is a large boat yard and two docks, one 140’ long and the other 90’ long. The facility is only a 600 meter walk from the main entrance to the River Campus.
GVP has hosted NCAA Regional Cross Country meets numerous times and consistently hosts some of the top rowing teams in the country at the Head of the Genesee Regatta and spring season dual races.
