The Yellowjackets lost a difficult game to the Engineers of RPI Sunday afternoon, posting a 2-0 loss in the UCAA.

The game started with both teams struggling to maintain possession of the ball. With just over 23 minutes remaining in the half, RPI's Laurie Young scored the first of her two goals in a small scramble and tip in just in front of the Yellowjacket net, putting the Engineers ahead 1-0. The Yellowjackets regrouped and were able to get several shots on the RPI goal. Young would not let up, however, and tipped in another goal with just under eight and a half minutes remaining, giving RPI the 2-0 lead.

The 'Jacket defense excelled in the second half, allowing no shots from the Engineers. They peppered the RPI goalie with nine shots in the half, but were unable to capitalize on a number of scoring opportunities.

With this loss, the 'Jacket Field Hockey squad falls to 6-7 overall, and 2-3 in the UCAA. They will take to the road next weekend against SUNY-Geneseo and Ithaca College, and return home to face the #1 ranked team in the UCAA, Skidmore, on October 24. Game time is 4 PM in Edwin Fauver Stadium.
