Collins Sparks Women into ECAC Semifinals



ELMIRA, NY - Senior striker Alison Collins scored the first goal and assisted on the next two as Rochester defeated Elmira, 4-0, in the ECAC Northeast Regional Championships.

With the victory, the Yellowjackets improved to 10-7-2 overall. Rochester will face top-seeded Nazareth College this Saturday, November 15, at 11 am at Nazareth. The second game of the doubleheader pairs seocnd-seeded Geneseo vs. third-seeded William Smith.

Collins broke up a scoreless when she tallied exactly at the halfway point of the first half (22:30). It was her 15th goal of the season.

Twenty minutes later, she set up junior Sarah Tarka for a 2-0 lead. Collins fed Kristin Kelly at 60:30 for a 3-0 edge.

Freshman Stephanie Klenotich completed the scoring at 78:31.

Sarah Malecki played the first half in goal for the Yellowjackets. She faced two shots but was not required to make a save. Adrianne Hulchanski played the second half in goal. She made one save.

Rochester had a 19-4 advantage in shots and a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.

The Yellowjackets won the ECAC Northeast Regional Championship last fall, beating Geneseo, 4-0, and St. Lawrence, 2-1 in OT, at Fauver Stadium. Collins was named the Most Valuable Performer.

Her four-point output today boosted her career totals to 45 goals and 16 assists. She has 106 points. Collins is Rochester's career leader in goals scored (45) and points (106).
