Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

W. Soccer Blanks Cortland

Alison Collins and Emily Urbanczyk scored in the first 12 minutes to fuel Rochester's 4-0 victory over SUNY Cortland at Fauver Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Kristin Kelly scored a pair of goals - one on a penalty kick - midway through the second half for the final margin.

Collins squirted a 10-yard shot under the dive of Cortland's Christa Windhorst at 5:56. Just over five minutes later, Rochester earned the first of nine corner kicks. Karen Forsythe played it to the back post and Urbanczyk slammed a header into the upper left hand corner, across the face of the net.

In the second half, the Red Dragons (1-1) applied early pressure. Rochester finally broke through when Kelly was taken down in the penalty area midway through the area. She drove the penalty kick to the low left side, increasing the lead to 3-0 at 63:04.

Just over two minutes later, Sarah Crimmins played a long ball down right wing to Kelly who got behind the Cortland defense. She lobbed a 20-yard shot over the onrushing Windhorst who was trying to cut down the angle.

Windhorst finished with five saves for Cortland. Malecki made three saves in 73:33 for Rochester. She was replaced by Adrianne Hulchanski who had one stop.

Rochester is 2-1 and has won its last two games by shutout after losing to third-ranked Trinity (TX), 3-0 in the season opener last Friday.
