The Rochester women's soccer team earned their fourth consecutive shutout victory Wednesday night with a 2-0 win over R.I.T. The Yellowjackets improved to 3-1-2 overall, while the Tigers fell to 2-5-0.
Maureen Dudiak and Ashley Weagraff scored their first goals of the season during a steady second half offensive attack. The 'Jackets registered 26 shots, while the stout defense held R.I.T. to just 3 shots.
After a scoreless first half, Dudiak put the 'Jackets on the board at the 67:35 mark. After a shot and save by Tiger goalkeeper Carolyn Yehle, Dudiak tapped in the rebound from near the left goal post after a scramble to give Rochester the 1-0 advantage. Weagraff then headed in a Karen Forsythe corner kick at 76:52 to put Rochester ahead 2-0.
Goalkeepers Adrianne Hulchanski and Molly Leitch shared the shutout. Hulchanski played the first half and was not forced to make a save; Leitch played the second half and recorded one save. Yehle made 10 saves in net for the Tigers.
The Yellowjackets, who received votes in the most recent Division III NSCAA/adidas Top 25 Poll, travel to SUNY Oswego next Tuesday, September 28 before returning to Fauver Stadium Saturday, October 2 to open the University Athletic Association season against 24th-ranked Brandeis University. Kickoff will be at 5:30 p.m.
