Emily Urbanczyk hit a 30-yard shot that dipped just under the crossbar midway through the second half as Rochester defeated visiting New York University at Edwin Fauver Stadium here today.
The victory was the 350th career win for Rochester head coach Terry Gurnett. He is the all-time victory leader in Division III women's soccer coaching circles. His career record after today's win is 350-113-49. This is his 29th season on the Yellowjacket sidelines.
Rochester created numerous scoring opportunities, but couldn't find a way to put the ball past NYU goalkeeper Kate Barnes for much of the match. Rochester outshot the Violets, 26-0. Barnes had 10 saves.
Kristen Leskow collected a loose ball on right wing and passed it laterally to Urbanczyk in the center of the field. She moved away from a defender, then looped a long high shot that went over Barnes' reach and dropped just under the bar.
Rochester goalkeepers Adrianne Hulchanski and Molly Leitch each played a half in goal without facing a shot.
The Yellowjackets are 6-1-1 overall, 1-0 UAA. NYU is 5-4-1 overall, 0-1 in the UAA.
