Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

M. Soccer Nips Emory

Damien Hallatt scored with 19:40 to play to snap a 1-1 tie and give the men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Emory University in a matchup of nationally-ranked teams at Edwin Fauver Stadium here tonight.

The Yellowjackets improved to 14-0-0 overall, 5-0-0 in the UAA. Emory is 14-2-0 overall, 3-2 in the UAA.

Rochester rallied with two goals in a span of less than nine minutes to grab the victory. At 61:49, Gary Stom hit a hard shot from left wing that was blocked by Emory goalkeeper Rohit Agarwal. The rebound came to Nate Micklos and he slotted it into the open right side of the net to tie the score at 1-1.

Micklos nearly gave Rochester a 2-1 lead minutes before Hallatt's score. Steve Maltzman angled a 40-yard cross from right wing on to Micklos' head. Agarwal had rushed off the line and was in the center of the box when Micklos headed the ball towards net. It struck the right post, rolled along the goalline, and past the left post where the Yellowjackets knocked it out of bounds trying to control the rebound.

Emory had a couple of rushes upfield in the closing minutes. Alex Grigglunas tried a bicycle kick from the center of the box that was blocked and Corbalan was able to control a couple of crosses.

Chambers had some tough luck on shots. In the first half, Karl Dix centered the ball from right wing to Chambers rushing down the middle. He hit his drive from the edge of the crease over the bar.

In the second half, with the Eagles up, 1-0, the ball was played from left wing by Patrick Carver to Chambers in the middle. His header with Corbalan off the line was tipped wide by Corbalan for a corner kick.

Agarwal had seven saves for Emory. Corbalan stopped two shots for the Yellowjackets.
