CLEVELAND, OH - Patrick Ripp scored twice in a five-minute span as the men's soccer team capped off an unbeaten-untied regular season with a 4-1 victory over Case Western Reserve University.
The Yellowjackets are 16-0 overall, 7-0 in the UAA. The 16 wins are a school record, snapping the mark of 15 wins set by the 1986 team (15-4-0).
Damien Hallatt and Nate Micklos added single goals for Rochester. Hallatt and Ripp banged in three goals in the last 10 minutes of the first half to give the Yellowjackets a 3-0 cushion heading into the halftime break.
Hallatt, who scored the winning goal vs. Emory last Friday, opened the scoring at 34:53 driving the ball into the lower right corner from 18 yards away. Ripp notched his first of the game at 38:33 when he scored off a deflected corner kick.
Ripp increased the lead to 3-0 at 43:16, heading home a rebound after Case keeper Chad Skidmore saved a shot.
Case pulled a goal back 47 seconds into the second half. R.J. French set up Kevin Bigart for a blast from nine yards away.
Micklos scored his 15th of the year with a five-yarder at 46:35.
Rochester outshot the Spartans 14-7. Paco Corbalan played 72:21 in goal. He allowed one goal, but did not make a save. Greg Chaffin played the final 17:39. He made two saves.
Skidmore had six saves and allowed four goals for Case. The Spartans finished 8-9-2 overall, 1-5-1 in the UAA.
