Fueled by two goals from sophomore Patrick Ripp, the men's soccer team defeated Clarkson University, 5-1.
The Yellowjackets completed a successful trip to the North Country, beating fifth-ranked St. Lawrence, 1-0, on Friday afternoon and winless Clarkson (0-4) on Saturday afternoon.
Ripp scored two goals. Nick Mikolenko and Neil Osuch scored once each in the run of play. Jeremy Goico scored on a penalty kick. The Clarkson tally came on an own goal committed by the Yellowjacket defense.
Rochester opened the scoring at 23:56. The Yellowjackets were awarded a free kick, 20 yards from goal. Nate Micklos tapped the ball to Mikolenko and he lined his fifth tally of the year into the back of the net. At 38:30, Ripp scored his first goal. Dominic Pellingra served it from the corner. It glanced off a defender. Ripp controlled it and tapped it into the net.
At 47:11, Ripp increased the lead to 4-0 on an assist from Jeremy Mann after a scramble in front. Osuch closed the Rochester scoring in another goalmouth scramble, knocking the ball in at 66:21.
Clark's goal, aided and abetted by the defense, came with 78:15 elapsed.
Paco Corbalan played the first 63:15 and did not have to make a save. Greg Chaffin relieved him and made two saves in 26:45.
