Tyler Green headed home a corner kick with just over 14 minutes to play and the men's soccer team dueled Washington University to a 1-1 tie at Edwin Fauver Stadium.
The Yellowjackets are 6-3-3 overall, 1-1-2 in the UAA. Washington, which upended 15th-ranked Case in Cleveland on Friday, is 7-3-2 overall, 1-2-1 in the UAA. Rochester is fourth in the UAA standings with five points behind 4-0 NYU, 3-1 Carnegie Mellon, and 2-2 Case (which finishes the season here on November 4).
Washington took a 1-0 lead at 58:26. The Bears earned a throw-in along the right sideline. Ben Ryugo threw it into the center of the box and Elie Zenner headed it into the left corner for his fifth goal of the season.
After constant pressure produced good chances for Green, J.J. Dennstedt, and Matt Sulkin, the Yellowjackets finally equalized. Nick Mikolenko swung a corner kick into the crease and Green headed it from a crowd high into the left side of the net at 75:46.
Dennstedt's speed created some opportunities Friday night vs. Chicago and Sunday vs. the Bears. With less than four minutes to play. Patrick Ripp crossed it from right wing and it was just beyond the reach of Dennstedt who tried a diving header.
Ryan Grandin nearly won it for the Bears in the first 30 seconds of overtime. He came down off the kickoff and hit a blazer over the crossbar from left wing. Rochester's best chance in the first 10 minutes of extra time was a breakaway by Dennstedt but he was stopped by WU goalkeeper John Smelcer who charged off the line.
In the second OT, Bobby Milenovici headed a cross wide. It came to Green who headed it straight on goal only to see Smelcer save it.<p. with="" less="" than="" two="" minutes="" left,="" washington's="" john="" hengel="" raced="" down="" the="" left="" sideline,="" beat="" defense,="" and="" crossed="" to="" a="" wide="" open="" jeff="" tracy="" who="" spun="" but="" corkscrewed="" shot="" over="" crossbar.<p=""> In the final minute, Milenovici had one last chance for Rochester, heading a free kick towards the post which Smelcer saved.</p.>

The Bears hit the post in the 21st minute (Kellen Hayes).
