Rochester scored a season's high six goals and controlled play in a 6-3 field hockey win over Elmira College at Edwin Fauver Stadium.
The Yellowjckets scored twice in the first eight minutes and led 3-0 before the match was 25 minutes old. After Elmira closed to 3-2, Kari Plewniak and Mary DiMatteo scored five minutes apart in the second half to break it open.
Plewniak scored two goals. DiMatteo had one goal and set up two. Krista Butler had one goal and one assist. Revay Wilson and Amanda Case scored once each. Celinda Fletcher had one assist.
Kayla Blank scored all three Elmira goals. Chelsea Jipner had two assists.
Goals from Plewniak (4:56) and Wilson (7:33) put the Yellowjackets ahead early. DiMatteo set up Butler for a 3-0 lead at 24:46. Jipner assisted on two of Blank's goals in a three-minute span (27:50 and 30:37) as the Soaring Eagles made a run.
Coming out of halftime, Butler's shot was tipped hom eby Plewniak at 42:35. Then Fletcher's penalty stroke found DiMatteo's stick at 47:54 for a 5-2 lead. Case completed the Rochester scoring at 51:39, assisted by DiMatteo.
Blank earned her hat trick with an unassisted goal - off her own rebound - at 64:07.
Rochester outshot the Eagles, 42-9. The Yellowjackets earned 17 penalty corners to Elmira's two.
In goal, Rachel Cahan made four saves and allowed three goals. For Elmira, Ann Phillips played the first 62:20. She allowed six goals and made 18 saves. Jalene McCulloch played the final 7:40.
Rochester is 1-2. Elmira is 1-1.
