PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Substitutes scored two goals and a third came on an own goal as the men's soccer team defeated St. John Fisher, 3-1.
Steve Welles and Clif White scored wearing Rochester colors and a Yellowjacket throw-in was knocked into the Fisher goal. Rochester improved to 3-1-1. The Cardinals are 2-2.
The Yellowjackets pressed in the first half and produced two goals. At 33:13, Boston Nyer put the ball in front and Welles scored his second of the year by tipping it past Fisher goalkeeper Robert Weigand. Just over five minutes later - at 38:14 - a throw-in was deflected by Fisher into its own net.
The lead stood at 2-0 until midway through the second half. Fisher's Robert Wick headed the ball to Matt Giunto who steered it past Paco Corbalan at 63:55.
The Yellowjackets answered quickly. At 65:15, White dribbled around Weigand and scored into an open goal.
Corbalan made two saves in 86:03 and Brandon Campbell played the final 3:57. Weigand made five saves for the Cardinals.
