TROY, N.Y. - Host RPI scored on a penalty stroke with 8:30 left in regulation and went on to a 1-0 victory over Rochester in field hockey.
Alex Lamparski converted the stroke at 61:30 for the Red Hawks. Goaltender Briana Earle made six saves for RPI. Rochester goaltender Danielle Pearson made two saves.
The Yellowjackets held a 12-8 advantage in shots. Penalty corners were even at 4-4.
Rochester is 0-1 in the Liberty League, 6-3 overall. RPI is 1-0 in the Liberty League, 6-2 overall.
On Saturday, Rochester plays at Vassar. This is the start of a seven-match road trip for the Yellowjackets. Rochester plays at William Smith on October 1.
