Allison Beardsley and Shayna McKie scored two minutes apart midway through the second half to help the University of Rochester defeat Elmira College, 4-1, in field hockey.
Christi Bottcher and Amanda Case scored the other goals for the Yellowjackets who improved to 2-1. Danielle Pearson made four saves for the win.
Jalene McCulloch stopped 11 shots for the Soaring Eagles (0-2). Ariana Farricielli scored the Elmira goal late in the first half.
Bottcher put Rochester ahead, 1-0, at 7:09. The Yellowjackets couldn't convert after that and Elmira drew even with 7:01 left in the first period when Farricielli scored in a goalmouth scramble.
Case scored the gamewinning goal with 38 seconds left in the first half. She latched onto a loose ball and drove it into the left side of the cage.
At 45:10, Beardsley completed a long run through the circle and swept the ball into the open left side of the net. McKie made it 4-1 at 47:44 when she knocked in a rebound of Lara Bucarey's shot that struck high on the right post and handed at her feet.
