UTICA, N.Y. - Rochester ran its field hockey winning streak to seven matches with a 2-0 victory at Utica College on Wednesday evening.
Amanda Case and Anna Dobrzynski scored for the Yellowjackets. Rochester improved to 10-5 overall. Utica is 7-7.
Danielle Pearson made three saves to post her second consecutive shutout. Monica Storms had three saves for the Pioneers.
Case put the Yellowjackets ahead to stay by scoring on a penalty stroke at 23:18. The stroke was awarded after a Utica defender laid down in front of the net. It was the eighth goal of the season for Case.
Dobrzynski provided some insurance at 60:45. Utica could not capitalize on a penalty corner. The Yellowjackets broke into transition. Shayna McKie carried the ball into the circle and found Dobrzynski who drove a five-yard shot off Storms and into the net.
Utica had seven penalty corners to six for the Yellowjackets.
Rochester returns to Fauver Stadium on Saturday at 4 pm to face Union in a Liberty Conference game. The Yellowjackets will host Skidmore College on Sunday at 1 pm.
