PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Marissa Braverman headed in a corner kick late in the first half and the University of Rochester rode the goal to a 1-0 victory over St. John Fisher.
Rochester improved to 10-2-2 overall with the victory. It was the sixth win in the last seven games with five of the victories coming via shutout. St. John Fisher is 6-8-2 overall.
The Yellowjackets just missed two early chances with both Lindsay Rood (7:32) and Erin Carballo (12:41) lining shots off the crossbar in a span of five minutes.
With the clock winding down towards halftime in a 0-0 game, Rochester earned a corner kick. Kirsten Roos took it and chipped it into the box where Braverman heded it past Ashley Martin for the game's only goal at 44:52.
The Yellowjackets had a 14-6 advantage in shots, 7-0 in shots on goal. Rochester earned 10 corner kicks to one for the Cardinals. Martin finished with six saves for Fisher. Celeste Hornbach was not required to make a save for Rochester.
