Rochester's Scott Cady scored 27 seconds into overtime as the Yellowjackets improved to 3-0 by defeating St. Lawrence on Friday afternoon. Steve Welles (two assists) found Cady for the game winner.
After a scoreless first half, Rochester scored 57 seconds into the second half to gain a 1-0 advantage. Steve Welles crossed the ball into the box and found Jake Cargill alone. Cargill's second goal of the season gave the Yellowjackets the lead.
Five minutes later St. Lawrence got the equalizer when a lead pass from Dan Casserly led to a Brendan Gorman goal.
Both teams battled back and forth for the rest of the half but no goals were scored. Cady's first goal of the season lifted the Yellowjackets to their first win away from home. Rochester outshot St. Lawrence 18-12 and held the advantage in corners 11-7. Senior goalie Michael Peacock made six saves to earn the win.
The team returns to action Sunday when they travel to Clarkson University for a 12 pm start. That game is the second of a four game road trip for the Yellowjackets.
