Field Hockey Blanks Brockport for 10th Win



Rochester closed its field hockey season on a high note with a 3-0 victory over the College at Brockport at Fauver Stadium on Saturday.

The Yellowjackets finished with a record of 10-9 and a five-game winning streak, the longest run of success this season. Brockport is 8-10.

Allison Beardsley scored the last two goals. Katie Flaschner got the opening goal after a good passing combination, and frosh goaltender Madison Wagner saved a penalty stroke.

The first goal came in the 16th minute. Anna Dobrzynski passed the ball from outside the cirlce to Lindsey Randall in the middle of the circle, just off the right post. She fired from there and Flascner redirected the ball into the net.

Minutes later, the Golden Eagles were awarded a penalty stroke. Gina Stephan took the stroke which was saved by Wagner who kicked it away from the left post.

Beardsley made it 2-0 at 26:22. She chased a free ball deep in the crease, finally getting to it and lifting it over Brockport goaltender Nicole Sarratori.

The Yellowjackets got their third goal after another penalty corner. Anisha Gundewar injected the ball. It was settled by Dobrzynski and passed ahead to Beardsley who wristed it into the left side of the cage at 41:26.

Rochester held a 16-8 advantage in shots and a 10-8 edge in penalty corners. Wagner made two saves in 61:24. Morgan Anastasio played the final 8:36. Rochester's Darragh Kerr made one defensive save, her 12th of the season. Sarratori stopped seven shots for Brockport.
