SWARTHMORE, PA - Rochester applied steady pressure in the closing minutes but could not score an equalizer and lost, 1-0, to Medaille College in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.

The Yellowjackets finished the season at 10-3-5. This was Rochester's sixth consecutive NCAA playoff appearance. Medaille improved to 16-4-2 and earned a date with host Swarthmore College to determine which team advances to the Sweet 16 next weekend.

Medaille scored in the seventh minute. Rouse Alexander crossed the ball deep into the box and Tor George touched it past Mike Moranz from in front of goal at 6:50.

Rochester pushed, and late in the first half, produced four corner kick opportunities in a matter of minutes. Midway through the second half, the Yellowjackets had another run of corner kicks. For the match, Rochester had 10 corner kicks while Medaille had two.

As the game clock got into the final 10 minutes, the Yellowjackets kept pushing for the equalizer. In the 82nd minute, Max Eberhardt shot from inside the box and the ball was saved by Medaille's Nick Kurtz. The ball came free to Steve Welles and his shot from close range on left wing was saved by Kurtz.

With less than two minutes to play, Jakob Seidlitz played a corner kick into Eberhardt in the area. His header was saved by Kurtz. Rochester's top scorer, Chris Blivin shook himself free of markers in the 89th minute, but shot wide from the top of the area.
