Alex Caghan hit a bases-loaded triple in the top of the ninth inning to highlight a five-run uprising as the University of Rochester defeated Vassar College, 13-11, and swept a doubleheader from the Brewers.

The Yellowjackets, ranked number 23 in the coaches' poll and number 25 in the media poll, fought back from an 11-7 deficit after seven innings. Rochester won the first game, 7-3. The Yellowjackets are 24-4 overall, 16-0 in the Liberty League. Vassar is 6-19 overall, 2-14 in the Liberty League.

Caghan was 2 for 4 in game two with six RBIs and three runs scored. He hit a three-run home run in the top of the second inning in the nitecap. In game one, he was 2 for 3 with one run scored and two RBIs.

Corey King, the fourth Rochester pitcher, earned the win in relief. In one and two-thirds, he allowed one hit and one walk with one strikeout. Zachary Prudoff took the loss for Vassar. He relieved Daniel Berkowitz in the fourth inning with Vassar trailing, 7-3. He shut down the Yellowjackets for the middle innings and carried an 11-8 lead into the ninth.

Prudoff got two quick outs. Matt Francis flied to left and pinch-hitter Rob Barnard walked. Moshe Lewis came in to run, but was erased on an infield groundout by pinch-hitter Jon Menke.

At this point, Prudoff lost his mastery of the strike zone. He walked Brian Bezek and hit Blayne Fuke, loading the bases. He walked Andy Cannon, forcing in Menke and cutting the Vassar lead to 11-9. He was replaced by Scott Allen.

Caghan lined a 2-0 pitch down the right field line to put the Yellowjackets ahead, 12-11. Nate Stein doubled him home before Allen retired Steve Just on an infield grounder.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Michael Perrone walked and Devon Luongo singled. Ari Glantz, who hit a two-run home run in a four-run Vassar fourth, flied to right, moving Perrone to third. King struck out Sal Costanzo to end it.

Costanzo singled home two runs in the first inning. The Brewers tied the score at 7-7 in the fourth. Luongo's sacrifice fly scored one run. Liam Lee stole home on a delayed double steal. Glantz hit his tying home run down the right field line.

Vassar scored two runs in the fifth off Phil DiLorenzo. Joe Bubar singled home one run and scored the other – on a single to right center by David Ringold. The Brewers stretched the lead to 11-7 in the seventh with a pair of unearned runs, one coming on a failed pickoff throw and the other when a drawn-in infield couldn't hold a bouncer by Perrone.

In game one, Caghan tripled home a run in the first and scored on a Stein double. The Yellowjackets tacked on four more runs in the third. A bunt single by Francis scored one and another came home on a throwing error after the bunt. Casey Storme hit a sacrifice fly for the third run and Caghan was hit by a pitch with the bases full to make it 6-0.

Vassar scored three in the fifth inning – an RBI single by Perrone, a steal of home by Lee, and an RBI single by Joe Castilla.

Menke worked five innings in the opener for Rochester, allowing sixt hits, three runs (all earned), and walked four with no strikeouts. He is 4-0. Nick Cacciola allowed one hit and one walk with two strikeouts in two innings for his third save.

John MacGregor pitched the first six innings for Vassar. He allowed eight hits, six runs (five earned), walked five, and struck out four. Zander Mrlik gave up one hit, one walk, and one earned run in his one inning of work.
