SCHENECTADY, NY - Blaise Ancona kicked three field goals, including a 41-yarder late in the third quarter as Union (1-0 Liberty, 1-1) held on against Rochester (0-1, 0-3). The Dutchmen also got a 51-yard TD pass from Drew Connolly to Connor Gallo in the first quarter.
Rochester scored on a pair of two-yard runs by defensive lineman Chris Bickford. He put UR ahead, 7-0, with 7:10 left in the first quarter. Union tied it on the TD pass to Gallo with 6:22 left in the first. Ancona kicked field goals of 24 and 33 yards, putting the Dutchmen ahead, 13-7, with 1:33 left in the second quarter.
UR went on a seven-play, 69-yard drive. Kyle Sreniawski caught two passes in the drive, Byron Saggese rushed twice totaling 17 yards, and Keegan hit Thomas Norman for a 23-yard gain. Bickford dove in from the two and Zach White-Stellato added the PAT, putting the Yellowjackets ahead at halftime,. 14-13.
Ancona's 41-yard field goal with 5:16 left in the third was the only score of the second half. Midway through the fourth quarter, UR quarterback Patrick Keegan drove the Yellowjackets down to the 20 yard line. White-Stellato's 39-yard field goal attempt hooked to the right.
Byron Saggese rushed 18 times for 74 yards for UR. Keegan completed 21 of 43 throws for 225 yards. He was intercepted twice. Tony Messana caught eight passes for 67 yards.Thomas Norman had six catches for 90 yards.
Chris Coney rushed 33 times for 157 yards for Union. Connolly completed 11 of 29 passes for 189 yards and oine TD.
Brendan Pidgeon had 12 total tackles for Rochester. Tony Ortega (McQuaid) had 11 stops.
