Chuck Resler Day One Results

The first set of games in the 2011 Chuck Resler Memorial Tournament are in the books.

In the first game of the day, Baruch College defeated Wittenberg University by a score of 79-73.  In a game that was littered with fouls and tons of free throws, the Bearcats (2-0) ended up with the victory.  Leading the way for Baruch wasw Jessica Duleba who scored 19 points (8-9 FT) and grabbed three rebounds.  Sheridan Taylor also had a productive game with 16 points and six rebounds.

For the Tigers (0-2), Sarah Watson was the star notching a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds.  Lyndsey Clark also had a good all-around game scoring six points, grabbing six rebounds and dishing out six assists.

In the 3 pm game, Ursinus College battled Keystone College.  Keystone (2-0) ended up the victor by a score of 95-78.  Leading the way for the Giants was Kenneth Hardnett who scored 25 points (11-16 FG) while grabbing 12 rebounds and handing out four assists.  The Giants had a total of three players score over 20 points with Mike Kelly (22 points) and Dan Candemeres (23) shouldering the load.

For the Bears (0-2), big man Jon Ward led the way with a team high 29 points while shooting 11-12 from the floor.  Ursinus shot nearly 60% from the floor, but Keystone's high tempo offense was too much, as shown by the Giants firing up 30 more shots than their opponent.

The nightcaps of day one of the tournament featured both University of Rochester teams, with the women defeating SUNY New Paltz at and the men beating SUNY Plattsburgh.
