CLEVELAND - Rochester survived two penalty kick goals by Case and battled the Spartans to a 2-2 draw in the final regular season University Athletic Association contest for both teams.
Case is ranked No. 18 nationally and No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region. The Spartans have aspirations of a bid to the NCAA Division III tournament when the field is announced on Monday. Case is looking for a Pool C (at-large berth). Rochester finished 8-7-1.
The Yellowjackets scored one of their two goals from the spot as well.
Ellen Coleman scored both Rochester goals. She finished the season with 10 goals and five assists.
Case took a 1-0 lead when Ana Arruda drove a penalty kick into the net at 12:32. Rochester leveled it at 35:59 with Coleman converting the 11-meter penalty.
Less than nine minutes into the second half,
Hayley Engel sent the ball over from right wing and Coleman headed home a go-ahead goal at 53:53.
Case got even again - from the spot again - with Kendra Simmons slotting the ball past
Bridget Lang at 75:46.
Lang produced 15 saves on 25 Spartan shots. Case goalkeeper Anna Kennedy had five saves. Case outshot Rochester 25-11, 14-3 in the second half. Rochester had one corner kick and Case had three.
Case is 12-3-3 overall, 4-2-1 in the UAA.
