The gamewinning penalty stroke was set up when a Rochester defender used her leg to block a shot by McGovern after a penalty corner. DeAngelis lifted the ball into the left side of the cage 4:54 into the extra session.
Beardsley put Rochester ahead, 1-0, at 2:34. She moved to the top of the circle and fired to the low left corner. DeAngelis equalized two minutes later. Kelsey Horan's pass found her eight yards from goal and she fired to the low right corner.
With just over eight minutes left in the first half, Beardsley's shot was batted down. It fell to Flashner and she pushed it into the path of Dobrzynski who scored. Geneseo got even through McGovern who struck from 18 yards away on left wing.
Midway through the second half, the Knights stripped the ball away. DeAngelis carried it down right wing before laying it into the path of Johnson who whistled it into the net. Rochester was even less than a minute later. She picked up a Vangellow penalty corner and drove it though a tangle of bodies in the circle to tie the score with 15:22 left in the match.
