Seven Yellowjackets scored in an 8-1 victory over Morrisville State moving UR to 12-3 on the season.
Katie Flaschner was the first on the board for the Yellowjackets seven minutes into the game when she lobbed a shot over Morrisville's keeper DePasquale's head from an assist by
Sarah Dixon on a penalty corner. Soon after Flaschner's goal
Michelle Relin found space in front of the goal and fired a shot into the bottom right corner of the net. Not even a minute later,
Lindsey Randall tapped a pass from
Shelby Hall between the keeper's legs to end the rapid succession of goals and putting Rochester up 3-0 early.
Relin would score again with 7:56 left to round up the scoring in the first half with a tap in goal on a rebound from her own shot. Relin's 15th goal of the season would put the Yellowjackets up 4-0 going into the half.
The start of the second half seemed to be quiet, but a goal by
Gina Cunningham in the 7th minute started what would be a five goal half. Cunningham found the back of the net by tapping in a shot amidst a scramble in front of the goal.
Morrisville (2-13) would not be shutout as Taylor Fields answered the goal by Cunningham exactly one minute later by finding an opening on the left wing and putting a shot in the lower right corner of the net.
Rochester would close out the game with three more goals, all assisted by
Katie Flaschner. The first was a goal by
Nicole Cerza on the left wing, giving Cerza her first goal of the season. Also scoring her first goal was
Mimi Adar on a deflection from Flaschner.
Megan Keil would seal the game by scoring the 8th goal with 2:27 left on the clock on a tipped pass from Flaschner.
Morrisville's Ellen DePasquale had a busy day with the Yellowjackets testing her with 40 shots. She finished the day with 18 saves against the bolstering Rochester offense.
Rochester will face Vassar College (7-4) in Poughkeepsie, NY next Friday in an important Liberty League game.
