ATLANTA - Rochester's defense held steady throughout the match against top-ranked Emory University on Sunday. The Eagles scored two second half goals and pulled out a 2-0 victory.
Although Emory had a sizeable advantage in shots at goal (37-4), the Eagles only managed to put nine shots on goal.
Bridget Lang made seven saves for the Yellowjackets. Erica Stein had two saves for the Eagles. Emory improved to 10-0-3 overall, 3-0-1 in the UAA. Rochester is 3-10, 0-4 UAA.
The Eagles didn't break through until the 55th minute. Jordan Morell played a ball from the near side into the box. Kelly Costopoulos drove it to the upper corner for her sixth goal of the year.
With just under 15 minutes to play (75:06), Emory got the needed insurance goal. Greta Jochmann put a corner kick into the area. Merrill Bachouros fired a shot. The rebound bounced to Emily Feldmann and she scored for her third goal of the season.
Rochester will play at Vassar College next Saturday, then plays its final three games at Fauver Stadium against Washington (Oct. 26), Chicago (Oct. 28), and Case Western Reserve (Nov. 3).
