UR Senior Day Ends in 'Jackets 5-1 Victory

ROCHESTER, NY- UR topples Golden Eagles (6-8) 5-1 with five different Yellowjackets finding the net on Rochester Senior Day.

Rochester's offense would stay hot following their 6-0 victory over St. John Fisher College on Wednesday scoring early and often.  The first goal for the 'Jackets came in the fourth minute off a Sarah Dixon penalty corner that found Michelle Relin who slapped the ball into the lower left corner of the net.  Relin would threaten again a minute later with a hard shot, but it was deflected away by Brockport's Kasey Schreiner.

UR's Belle Hoagland would extend the lead with 2:37 left in the half after stuffing a rebound into the net just out of reach of the diving Schreiner.  At the end of the first half the Yellowjackets were up 2-0, and their defense had yet to allow a shot in the game.

Rochester's Dixon scored her second goal of the season as she increased the lead to 3-0 two minutes into the second half after she settled the ball in front of the net following a scramble and squeezed a shot past Schreiner.

Not long after Dixon's goal, Katie Flaschner joined the offensive attack and rifled a backhand from fifteen yards out to find the back of the net putting UR up 4-0.  The Golden Eagles made a goalie change to Elizabeth Hogan following Flaschner's goal ending Schreiner's day with 9 saves in 40:15.

Mimi Adar capped off the Yellowjacket's scoring frenzy with a rebounded shot to put Rochester up 5-0.

However, Brockport wouldn't go down without a fight as they finally got their first shot on goal in the 68th minute.  The Golden Eagles managed to force five penalty corners in a row in the last two minutes and were able to muster six shots.   With time expired, Brockport's Danielle Henck attacked a loose ball in front of the cage and found the net ending the game 5-1.

The Yellowjackets moved to 15-4 (4-2 Liberty League) and plan to start their playoff run Wednesday evening with the opponent and location to be determined based on the RPI vs. Oneonta game later Saturday evening.
