EWING, N.J. - The College of New Jersey scored as early goal and rode that to a 1-0 victory over Rochester in the first round of the TCNJ Soccer Classic.
TCNJ is ranked #21 in Division III in the pre-season poll of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. On Saturday, Rochester will play Johns Hopkins University, the nation's third-ranked team. Johns Hopkins defeated Skidmore College by the identical 1-0 result. The classic is being played in a round-robin format.
Senior goalkeeper
Bridget Lang made two saves for Rochester and her defense cleared away two other scoring chances. Lions' goalkeeper Kendra Griffith made one save to earn the shutout win.
In the 13th minute, TCNJ's Katie Lindacher intercepted a clearance, raced towards goal, chipped the ball over an onrushing Lang, and kicked it into the open net.
