WALTHAM, MA- The University of Rochester women's volleyball team captured 7th place at the UAA Championships on Saturday, defeating host Brandeis 3-2 for the teams first conference win of the year.

Rochester ends its season with a 9-27 overall record while the Judges finish the season at 10-25.

The Yellowjackets jumped out to an early two game lead, taking the first two sets 25-14 and 25-12 but Brandeis refused to go down easy in front of their home crowd. The Judges would rebound in the 3rd and 4th sets, topping UR 25-19 and 25-23 forcing the game to a fifth set.

After jumping out to a 6-2 Â lead in the deciding set, Brandeis fought back to a 7-9 deficit before Rochester took six of the last 10 points to grab the final set by a 15-11 score.

The Yellowjackets were led senior
Savannah Benton who had 11 kills on the day. Sophomore
Jennie Ford added 9 kills, 4 aces, 7 digs and 2 blocks. Classmate
Emma Gira chipped in seven kills and three blocks while junior
Xiaoyi Li had 31 assists, 10 digs and three blocks.Â
Meghan Connor added 22 digs.

UR held a 14-6 edge in service aces while also blocking nine Brandeis attacks. Rochester hit .174 (39-16-132) for hits best hitting percentage in over a month (.255, Oct. 5th vs Chicago).
