Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

'Jackets Post Third Shutout in Last 4 Games

Rochester applied steady pressure throughout the match and earned goals in each half to post a 2-0 men's soccer victory over Lycoming College on Saturday night at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

The Yellowjckets improved to 7-1-1 overall while the Warriors dropped to 5-3-1. This was Rochester's third shutout in its last four games, all victories.

Lycoming goalie Connor Keenan made 10 saves, five in each half and the Yellowjackets kept him busy much of the night. In the ninth minute, Jeffrey Fafkinski took a corner kick into the center of the box. Keith Graymeyer tried a shot that Keenan tipped into the crossbar. The ball bounced free and was cleared outside the box where Rochester's Andrew Sheridan fired a shot wide right.

The Yellowjackets had two chances to get on the scoreboard midway through the period. Grffin Drake collected the ball in the box and his shot forced Keenan to make a save. Just over a minute later, Alex Swanger cut down the left side, took the ball to the endline, and sent a dangerous cross into the middle. Keenan secured it in the center of the goalmouth with two Rochester players lurking at the back post.

With 31 minutes elapsed, Rochester broke the scoreless drought. After a foul on right wing, Fafkinski lofted a free kick into the penalty area. Ben Swanger headed the ball across the goalmouth and Grafmeyer was there to tough home his second goal of the season.

The second 45 minutes looked much like the first with the Yellowjackets swarming into the penalty area and putting steady pressure on the Warrior back line. Alex Swanger hit a free kick just over the crossbar in the 49th minute and Ben Keeton did hit the bar with a shot five minutes later. Two minutes after that, Sheridan took the ball down right wing, threaded a pass along the end line and Alex Swanger just missed a sliding attack.

Rochester's needed second goal arrived with 4:27 left to play. One shot was blocked, Alex Swanger seized the rebound and shot. The rebound back back to Greblick and he touched it home.

The Yellowjackets had a 21-3 edge in shots overall, 12-0 in shots on goal. Rochester had three corner kicks to two for Lycoming. Mike Moranz picked up the shutout. He was not required to make a save.
