CHICAGO – Rochester secured the seventh seed for the University Athletic Association volleyball championships by defeating Brandeis, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at the University of Chicago. Earlier in the day, the Yellowjackets lost, 3-0, to the host Maroons.

Rochester's split gives the team a record of 1-6 in the UAA round robin. Rochester is 12-17 overall. Brandeis finished the UAA round robin at 0-7 (5-17 overall).

The Yellowjackets won the first two sets, 25-18, 25-9, then lost a 25-20 decision to Brandeis in set three. Rochester won the fourth set, 25-12. In the earlier match, Chicago won, 25-20, 25-17, 25-13.

Against Brandeis, Jennie Ford had 14 kills, 16 digs, and eight service aces. Aimee Kohler had five kills and 13 digs. Emma Gira had nine kills and two block assists. Alexandra Nelligan registered 11 kills. Meghan Connor had 11 digs, and Ashley Hunter had 12 digs. Xiaoyi Li had 36 assists and seven digs.

Against Chicago, Shira Katz had seven hills and Ford supplied five kills and 10 digs. Hunter had 14 digs and Connor had nine. Allie Fredrickson had three kills and two blocks. Li compiled 17 assists and nine digs.
