Backed by a strong pitching performance in game one, the University of Rochester split a Saturday doubleheader with St. Lawrence University, ending the weekend 1-3 in the Liberty League.
The Yellowjackets (3-9, 1-3 Liberty League) got a complete game 5-hit shutout from sophomore
Dan Warren in game one, capturing a 3-0 victory. Warren was stellar, allowing just the five hits, walking three and striking out six in his second victory on the season. Through 17 innings on the young season, Warren has not allowed an earned run while striking out 16 batters.
St. Lawrence (7-5, 3-1 Liberty League) took home the 4-3 win in game two with a walk-off double in the ninth inning from Mark Syron.

Nolan Schultz and
Brian Munoz all provided two hits for UR while the RBI's came courtesy of
Brendan Garry,
Nate Mulberg and
Brandon Heinrich. Bryan Palermo and Brian Magovney each had two hits in game one for St. Lawrence.
In the nightcap, the Saints jumped out to a 3-0 lead after four innings with RBI hits from Syron and two more from Palermo.
The Yellowjackets would battle back late off the Saints bullpen, plating a run in the 7th on a wild pitch and two more in the ninth. Garry reached on a throwing error scoring Schultz from third and then Mulberg cracked a hard grounder past third base, scoring the tying run in the top of the final inning.
After the first two batters in the bottom of the ninth reached, UR got a strikeout before Syron's walk-off hit.
Dan Hedden pitched solid for the Saints, allowing just five hits in six scoreless innings, while UR starter
David Strandberg battled some control issues, throwing four innings, allowing 10 hits, 3 runs while walking 4 and striking out 3. Mike Dell'Olio picked up the win in relief for SLU.
Will Conroy led the Yellowjackets at the plate in game two, going 4-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Schultz added two more hits while Mulberg reached base three times with a hit and two walks.
Palermo had another great game going 4-5 with 2 RBI while Syron finished 3-6 with two batted in. Kevin Prindle batted 1-1 with four walks and both Magovney and Chris Fernandez went 2-4 with two runs in the contest.
Rochester's next contest is scheduled for Wednesday, a home matchup against a nationally ranked SUNY Cortland squad at 5 pm.
