CORTLAND, N.Y. - Rochester split a pair of 3-0 decisions on the first day of the Cortland Red Dragon Volleyball Invitational. The Yellowjackets lost their opener, 3-0, to St. Lawrence (23-25, 22-25, 20-25), then bounced back to defeat Utica College, 25-11, 25-19, 25-20.
Jennie Ford had 15 kills and 19 digs in the two matches.
Ashley Hunter recorded 36 digs in the split.
In the St. Lawrence match, Ford had eight kills, 11 digs, and five aces.
Emma Gira had five kills and one block solo.
Meghan Connor had 11 digs and Hunter dug 19 balls.
Against Utica, Ford had seven kills and eight digs.
Anna MacDonald had five kills, one block solo, and one block assist. Huner had 17 digs and Connor had 11 more digs. As a team, Rochester had 13 aces in the victory.
On Saturday, the Yellowjackets play Juniata College at 11 am and host school Cortland at 4 pm.
