SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Host Union College scored a goal midway through the second half and held on for a 1-0 victory over Rochester at Union's Classic on Friday afternoon. It was the second straight weekend the teams were in the same tournament, but the first time they played each other. Union and Rochester did not meet on Labor Day Weekend at UR's Flower City Classic.
Allie Supranowicz scored the game's only goal in the 69th minute, driving the ball from the left endline to the far right corner of the net, out of the reach of Rochester goalkeeper
Aubrey Jaicks.
The Yellowjackets put on steady pressure, particularly in the last 10 minutes when they earned a pair of corner kicks, but could not find the equalizer.
Allison Brustowicz made 10 saves to earn the win for Union. Jaicks had seven stops for Rochester. The Yellowjackets held a 17-11 edge on shots and a 5-1Â advantage on corner kicks.
On Saturday, the Yellowjackets will take on UMass-Boston. Union will play Wilkes College.
