Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fifth-Ranked Carnegie Blanks Rochester, 2-0

PITTSBURGH - Fifth-ranked Carnegie Mellon used a pair of first half goals and shutout goalkeeping to post a 2-0 victory over Rochester in a women's soccer match on early Friday eveninng.

The Tartans improved to 12-0-1 overall, 3-0 in the University Athletic Association. The loss leveled the Yellowjackets' overall record to 5-5-1. Rochester is 1-2 in the UAA and heads for Case Western Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

Rochester did have scoring chances in the second half. McKenzie Runyan fired from distance, but it went straight at CMU goalkeeper Katie Liston. Lee Stagg let one go, shooting from left to right, but Liston was equal to the task of collaring the low shot.

Lauren Pien got through the CMU defense in the last four minutes, but as she fired from close-range, Liston dashed off the line and kicked the ball away. Rochester eventually wound up with a corner kick. Megan Runyan got it into the path of Pamela Chan, but her shot was saved with just over four minutes to play.

Carson Quiros scored both CMU goals - the first at 7:29 and the second exactly 29 minutes later. Her first score went to the top corner of the net. The second goal came after she repositioned the ball on her right foot and scored inside the near post.

Liston had four saves. For Rochester,Madilynne Lee had four saves as well. CMU held an 11-4 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
