KEUKA PARK, NY – It was an offensive onslaught by the University of Rochester women's soccer team in a 3-0 victory over Keuka on Wednesday evening at the Jephson Athletic Center.

Rochester (7-5-1) fired away 35 shots, finding the back of the net three times in the first 11 minutes to power to the victory. The defense also played exceptionally well, allowing the Wolfpack (8-6-2) only one shot and only one corner kick in the contest.

The Yellowjackets opened the scoring at the 5:47 mark when sophomore Laura Cowie-Haskell headed in a corner kick off the foot of freshman teammate Megan Runyan. Three minutes earlier, Cowie-Haskell cracked the crossbar for the first great chance of the match.

Less than three minutes after her first goal, Cowie-Haskell struck again scoring an unassisted goal at 8:28. She then nearly scored the hat trick, but her shot a in the 10th minute careened of the crossbar on what could have been a fourth goal of the game.

McKenzie Runyan did make it 3-0 in favor of Rochester with a goal at 10:38. She took a pass from Paige Gloster out of the corner of the box and fired a shot from the center of the penalty area past Keuka goalkeeper Maeve Fletcher for her team leading 4th goal of the season.

The Yellowjackets would keep applying the offensive pressure in the first half, hitting the crossbar again, this time by Margaret Lee in the 23rd minute. Overall in the half, Rochester took 22 shots, scored three times, had three of which hit the bar and seven others that were saved away by Fletcher.

In the second half, UR controlled most of possession, tacking on four additional corner kicks to get the game total to 10.

Sophomore Madilynne Lee and freshman Samantha Hlavac combined on the shutout in goal for the Yellowjackets while Fletcher ended with 13 saves for the Wolfpack who snapped an 8-game unbeaten streak.

Rochester returns to action on Saturday at St. John Fisher College in a game that kicks off at 5 pm.
