Rochester Blanked By Case No-Hitter at UAAs

SANFORD, FL – Junior Neal Krentz of the Case Western Reserve University baseball team tossed the first ever no-hitter in the history of the UAA Championship, defeating the University of Rochester 12-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Krentz no-hit the Yellowjackets (1-3, 1-3 UAA) in seven innings, allowed five walks and hitting two batters while striking out eight.  #15 Case moves to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the UAA Tournament.

Rochester's Nolan Schultz and Brian Munoz each drew a walk and were hit by a pitch in the contest.

The Spartans would jump ahead early, plating five runs, only one of which was earned, in the first inning.  Kerrigan Cain, Alex Capetillo and Will Meador each had RBI hits in the frame while Josh Neal added a 2-RBI single.

Case added four more runs in the 3rd, increasing the lead to 9-0.  Neal again added a 2-RBI hit, doubling in Jordan Swisher and Capetillo.  Rob Winemiller also drove in two with a two-out double.

Rochester would yield the final three runs in the game in the fifth, with Winemiller providing a sacrifice fly, a failed pickoff plating a run and a Cain RBI single.

Josh Schulman started for Rochester and went three innings, giving up nine runs (2 earned).  Freshman Michael Lee pitched two frames and allowed three runs (2 earned) and Andrew Crean tossed a 1-2-3 6th inning.

Rochester squares off against #9 Emory tomorrow at 11 am at Sanford Memorial Stadium.
