Ithaca pitchers Laura Quicker and Allison Macari threw complete game victories in varying styles as Ithaca swept a non-conference doubleheader from the University of Rochester on Tuesday afternoon.

Quicker spun a three-hitter for a 1-0 victory in the opener. Macari worked in and out of trouble throughout game two which ended in a 6-4 decision for the Bombers. Quicker struck out five without issuing a walk. Macari scattered 10 hits, walked three, struck out six, and hit one. She allowed four runs, three of them earned.

Ithaca improved to 17-11 overall, 15-3 since dropping a doubleheader to Cortland on April 1. Rochester is 21-10 overall. The Yellowjackets are 13-5 since April 1.

Rochester's Brittany Grage was the hard-luck loser in the first game. She allowed four hits, one run, walked two, and struck out six. Grage worked out of jams in the first two innings. Â Allie Colleran singled and Francesca Busa was hit by a pitch. Casey Gavin bunted the runners over in the first inning, but Grage fanned Kelly Robichaud and Emily Bloom. In the second, Nicole Ciricillo walked with one out. She moved to second on a groundout but was stranded when Jessie Fleck grounded out.

Ithaca finally broke through in the third. Colleran singled and stole second. Busa doubled to right center for the RBI. Gavin's groundout moved Busa to third. Grage worked out of it, striking out Robichaud again and retiring Bloom on a groundout. Over the last four innings, she allowed two baserunners: Ciricillo walked with one out and stole second. She was stranded there. Robichaud singled leading off the sixth but was erased on an inning-ending double play.

Quicker set down 13 of the first 14 batters she faced. Julia Liberto's single with one down in the third was Rochester's first hit. The Yellowjackets threatened in the fifth. With one out, Gabrielle Alatorre singled and advanced to second when the ball was misplayed in the outfield. Quicker retired Jocelyn Blackshear on a grounder to the right side with Alatorre moving to third base. She fanned Liberto to end the inning.

Eleni Wechsler singled with one out in the seventh. Quicker got Sarah Wayson to bounce into a 5-4-3 double play that ended the game.

In game two, Ithaca was able to capitalize on its scoring opportunities and Rochester could not. The Yellowjackets stranded 11 runners, six in scoring position. Wechsler took the loss for Rochester, scattering seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Five of the six runs were earned.

Gavin's two-run home run in the top of the first put Ithaca ahead. Rochester staged a two-out rally in its half. Grage singled and Wechsler walked. Alatorre pusghed a single throught the left side that scored Grage and each runner moved up one base. Kibling's flyout ended the inning.

Another two-out uprising in the third went for naught. With Wechsler on first, Alatorre and Kibling reached on infield singles to load the bases. Sarah Wayson popped out.

Ithaca scored three in the third – two on Ciricillo's double to right center – and one more in the fifth (Jenna Tambasco singled as a pinch-hitter to score Gavin) to open a 6-1 lead.

Rochester fought back. Grage singled. Wechsler doubled to the base of the centerfield wall. Ithaca executed a perfect relay from Erin McQuillan to Busa to Monica Capolongo and nipped Grage at the plate. Alatorrre singled to left with Wechsler advancing one base. She scored on a wild pitch and Alatorre moved to second. Another wild pitch moved Alatorre to third and she scored when Kibling's grounder to the left side was booted. Macari struck out Wayson and got Liberto to foul out, ending the inning with Ithaca up, 6-3.

Wechsler set down Ithaca in order in the sixth and seventh and the Yellowjackets rallied again in their half of the last inning. Alatorre walked with one out. She was forced at second on Kibling's groundout. Wayson singled to center, moving Kibling to second. Laurelle Byrne-Cody ran for Wayson.  Liberto doubled to center, scoring Kibling and moving Byrne-Cody to third. Macari ended it with her sixth strikeout – getting pinch-hitter Rachael Roddenbery.
