Denny's Two Goals Help Close Out Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY – Rochester regained its scoring touch Wednesday night, taking advantage of a team in search of its first victory as Rochester defeated the College at Brockport, 4-0, at Bob Boozer Stadium.
 
The Yellowjackets improved to 6-2 while the Golden Eagles stand at 0-8. Rochester opens its Liberty League season this Saturday at 4 pm against Union College in Fauver Stadium.
 
Olivia Denny scored a pair of goals – 15 minutes apart in the second half as the Yellowjackets put the game away. Michelle Relin and Nicole Cerza had first half goals and each one picked up an assist on Denny's double. Claire Dickerson had an assist on the Cerza tally that made it 2-0.
 
Relin got the Yellowjackets off on the right foot, scoring 7:29 into the match. She jumped onto a rebound and fired into the bottom left side of the net. Cerza made it 2-0 at 23:41. She collected Dickerson's pass across the front of the goalmouth and tucked it into the lower right corner.
 
Denny and Cerza ran a 1-2 combination six minutes into the second half for the 3-0 lead. Denny finished off the play. She collected her second goal of the game – set up this time by Relin – at 55:58 – taking the feed from the middle and driving the ball into the left side of the goal.
 
The Yellowjackets held a commanding 37-4 edge in shots, 26-1 in shots on goal. Tara Lamberti played the first 43:20 in goal for Rochester. She made one save. Gabrielle Cantley played 5:18, and Kiram Sunduram played 21:22.
 
For Brockport, Paul Amo went the first 43:20. She allowed three goals and made 17 saves. Sara Beam made four saves and allowed one goal in 26:40. Brockport's Autumn Swavely had a defensive save as well.
