WALTHAM, MA – The University of Rochester volleyball team dropped a pair of conference matches on Sunday to complete round robin play in the UAA at Brandeis University.

The Yellowjackets (18-9, 3-4 UAA) lost 3-1 to the University of Chicago and then fell 3-0 to Carnegie Mellon University.

With its 3-4 record, the 'Jackets will be the fifth seed for the UAA Championship tournament set for November 4th and 5th at Washington University in St. Louis. It will be a rematch with CMU in the quarterfinals of that tournament as the Tartans secured the fourth seed with the win over UR. Chicago went a perfect 7-0 in round robin play and will be the top seed.

The Yellowjackets played tight with the top seeded Maroons. After dropping the first set 25-18, UR responded with a big win in set two, winning 25-11. The Maroons rebounded though, finishing off the match with 25-20 and 25-19 wins in the third and fourth sets to win the match.

In the CMU match, the Tartans earned the sweep by a 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 score.

Clara Martinez was UR's top hitter in the Chicago match, leading all players with 15 kills on 22 attempts for a .545 hitting percentage. She added four digs and two aces.Â
Alara Kocak added 12 kills and two blocks while
Shira Katz had nine kills.Â
Alexandra Goldman chipped in three kills and five blocks while three players
Aimee Kohler (17),
Meghan Connor (12) and
Courtney Vidovich (10) had double-digit digs. Kohler also had 30 assists in the loss.

Rochester was led in the Carnegie Mellon match by
Alexandra Nelligan who had eight kills. Martinez hit .400 and had six kills while Kocak had five. Kohler added three kills, 16 assists and six digs while Vidovich and Connor each had eight digs.

The Yellowjackets return to action this Wednesday for Senior Day at the Palestra as UR hosts Nazareth at 6 pm.
