'Jackets Top Lycoming and Wilkes; Now 17-6

WILIAMSPORT, PA – Rochester used its service game successfully on Saturday as the Yellowjackets completed a sweep of the opponents in the Lycoming College tournament. In the first match, the Yellowjackets defeated Lycoming, 25-22, 25-19, 25-15. In the second match, Rochester posted a four-game win over Wilkes College, 25-12, 25-18, 24-26, 25-16.
 
Counting the Friday victories over Susquehanna and Alfred State, Rochester improved to 17-6 overall. The Yellowjackets are idle until next weekend when they play in the second UAA Round Robin, this one at Brandeis.
 
UR had 10 service aces in both the Lycoming and Wilkes victories. Against Lycoming, Courtney Vidovich had four aces, Aimee Kohler had three, and Sara Apanavicius had two. The leader against Wilkes College was Megan McHugh, who had five aces. Kohler supplied four.
 
Clara Martinez and Shira Katz had 12 kills vs. Lycoming. Alexandra Goldman had 11, plus three blocks. Alexandra Nelligan had seven kills. Kohler recorded 40 assists, eight digs, and two solo blocks to go along with the three aces. Meghan Connor had eight digs. Apanavicius had six digs.
 
In the win over Wilkes, Goldman had eight kills and three blocks. She was named to the All-Tournament Team. McHugh and Katz had seven kills. Martinez had five, Elizabeth Thomas added four, and Kohler produced three.
 
Connor and Kohler were the diggers; Connor had 25 and Kohler had 11. Nina Baek had six digs as did Bianca Dyer.
 
Lycoming was 12-12 after the match vs. Rochester. Wilkes was 9-15.
