Megan Runyan put it into the center of the goalmouth and
Kim Stagg headed a shot into the crossbar. The rebound was driven over the net.
Â
Two of Carillo's saves were big. In the 32
nd minute,
Hayley Orciuch swept into the penalty area on the left. She tried to hook a shot into the far right corner, but Carillo palmed it wide for a corner kick. Â Rochester pressed forward after halftime, trying to break the 0-0 deadlock. With just over three minutes elapsed,
Jean Chakmakas and
Kerri Eden went sent in two on one. Eden fired over the bar. The Bengals couldn't get the ball out of their own end and Rochester came down less than a minute later. This time, Chakmakas tried from distance. Carillo punched it into the crossbar and managed to scramble away the rebound.
Â
It was Buffalo State that broke the tie. A pass from left wing was put across the goalmouth. Smith reached it first, maneuvered around a defender, and when she got a clean look at goal, drove the ball inside the left post.
Â
BSC nearly had a second goal with just over 12 minutes to play. Emma Boccolucci dispossessed a Rochester defender, moved slightly to the right for an open look, and fired into goal. It was waved off for a foul.
Â
Rochester had two more chances in the last 10 minutes. A long free kick from left wing by
Sydney Melton  was eventually headed over the bar by Orciuch. With less than five minutes left, Carillo charged off the line to an area near the penalty spot to catch a long diagonal pass from right wing as three Yellowjackets crashed into the area.
