PITTSFORD, NY – Rochester scored one goal in each half and the defense held its own in posting a 2-0 women's soccer victory over St. John Fisher College on Tuesday evening.

The Yellowjackets improved to 6-3-1 with the victory. St. John Fisher is 3-7-1. Rochester plays at defending national champion Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday. The Bears are ranked #2 nationally this week.

Jorie Freitag scored the gamewinning goal 15 minutes into the match. Shye drove a 25-yard shot over the head of Fisher goalkeeper Melissa McGowan.

The second goal didn't come until less than nine minutes remained.

Shayna Levy assisted.

Madilynne Lee made four saves in goal to earn the shutout for Rochester. McGowan had eight saves for Fisher. Rochester held an 18-6 advantage in shots, 10-4 in shots on goal.
