The 9th-ranked University of Rochester women's basketball team applied the full court pressure early on, building a huge first half lead, earning a 78-28 victory over Oswego State on Wednesday evening at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

Rochester (5-0) built a 22-5 lead after the opening quarter and was up 43-16 at intermission. Overall, the Yellowjackets forced the Lakers (2-4) to commit 34 turnovers and held them to just nine field goals all night, while shooting 19.6% from the floor.

The Yellowjackets swiped 21 steals on the night and had 14 different players score, while all 18 players that were dressed entered the game. UR also held Oswego without a 3-pointer, the first time in 139 games that Rochester has not allowed a 3-pointer made by its opponent, with the last being back in the 2011-12 season.

Shea McCartney had four points and two steals.
UR was led by
Brenna James who scored 10 points off the bench, including three 3-pointers. Two starters,
Alexandra Leslie and
Brynn Lauer each added nine points, with Lauer chipping in four assists.Â
Lauren Deming did a little bit of everything, scoring 8 points with 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.

Moriah Kunes chipped in eight points and three rebounds, while
Samantha Collins sank two three's for six points.Â
Lizzy Atkinson also had six points, swiping a career-high five steals and
Ally Forness grabbed a career-best six rebounds for UR in her nine minutes played.

The scoring output was the most for Rochester this season, while the nine shots from behind-the-arc made matched the season best for the Yellowjackets. Rochester shot 42% from the floor (28-66) on the night and tallied 20 assists, which also was the best so far this year.

Up next for UR is a stiff test, as the Yellowjackets play at the Williams Invitational this Friday and Saturday. Rochester matches up against #1 ranked Tufts in the opener on Friday at 6 pm before taking on host Williams in a Saturday tilt at 3 pm.
