ATLANTA – Emory University scored four and a half minutes into sudden death overtime to edge Rochester, 3-2, in a battle of men's soccer heavyweights in the University Athletic Association.

The outcome is Rochester's first loss in five weeks. Rochester lost to Chicago on September 30, then reeled off five wins and a tie. The Yellowjackets finished the regular season at 11-3-3, 4-2-1 in the UAA. UR tied for third place in the UAA standings with Emory (12-5-1 overall). Chicago won the league title (and automatic bid to the NCAAs). Brandeis (which Rochester defeated, 1-0, on October 13) finished second at 5-2.

Teams selected for the NCAA Division III playoffs will be announced on Monday afternoon. Rochester has played in 17 NCAA Division III tournaments, including four of the last five seasons.

Nik Angyal assisted on the first Rochester goal and scored the second goal. The match was just shy of nine minutes old when Angyal fired after a corner kick. The rebound came to
Bryce Ikeda and he directed it into the net. Rochester led, 1-0, through the first half.

Emory tied the score in the 68
th minute. Jason McCartney slipped a pass in traffic to Moustafa Khattab who dribbled through the defenders and fired a shot past
Redd Brown.

Less than a minute later, Angayl got the Yellowjackets even. He moved around a defender and shot from the top of the box to just inside the near post, putting UR ahead, 2-1.

The Eagles produced an equalizer off a rebound with just under nine minutes left. Brown saved a shot by Tyler Santee, but the rebound came free and Santee converted the tying goal.

Just 4:28 into OT, Christian Meyer shot the ball into the top right hand corner.

Brown finished with seven saves for Rochester. Emory goalie Cole Gallagher had two saves.
