TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute dominated early and scored touchdowns after three first half Rochester turnovers to spark a 63-14 victory over the University of Rochester at ECAV Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Engineers improved to 7-2 overall, 3-1 in the Liberty League. Rochester is 2-6 overall, 0-4 in the Liberty League. RPI plays at Union College next Saturday. The Engineers can win the Liberty League crown with a victory. Rochester will host Hobart College on Senior Day at Fauver Stadium next Saturday.

RPI intercepted two passes and recovered one fumble – all of which led to scores. The home side was also able to capitalize on a blocked punt, scoring two plays later. RPI led, 42-0, at halftime.

Much of Rochester's first half offense came from Emmanuel Calmar. He carried the ball 15 times for a net of 64 yards.
Josh Brown rushed for a net of 19 first-yard yards and passed for 28 more. He finished the game with 74 yards passing on nine of 17 accuracy. He was sacked twice. He rushed nine times for 21 net yards.

Jason Cunningham scored both Rochester touchdowns in the fourth quarter. He rushed for a three-yard TD to complete a 10-play, 75-yard drive with 11:19 left, then ran one yard for a score with 4:48 to go. Cunningham carried the ball 13 times for 26 net yards. Dan Bronson rushed nine times for 23 yards and caught four passes for 40 yards.

RPI quarterback George Marinopoulos completed nine of 10 first half passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns – to four different receivers. On RPI's first play from scrimmage (after Brown pooch-punted the ball), Marinpoulos threw a slant to Conor Davis on the right side. He broke a tackle at the 25 and raced down the right sideline to complete an 87-yard touchdown play. Christian Kapp made the PAT. Mike Tivinis rushed for two first half TDs for the Engineers on runs of 29 yards and 11 yards.
UR's leading tacklers were

Matt Woodarek with seven,
Ryan Bell,
Ricky Simcic, and
Christian Marini with six. Bell blocked a field goal attempt by Kapp with 2:33 left in the third and RPI ahead, 49-0.
