BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Hitting accurately proved to be a difficult task for Rochester's women's volleyball team on Tuesday evening. The Yellowjackets lost a four-set match to The College at Brockport, 25-17, 20-25, 15-25, 17-25. They hit .082 for the match.

UR's mini-streak of four straight wins was halted with the loss to the Golden Eagles. Last weekend, UR won all four of its matches in the Lycoming College Tournament – one in a sweep (3-0), two in four sets, and one in five sets (a 3-2 victory over Catholic University of America). The overall record is now 18-6 with Rochester off to Pittsburgh this weekend for the second UAA Round Robin being hosted by Carnegie Mellon. Brockport picked up its 12th win of the season against nine defeats.

At CMU, Rochester will play Brandeis University and Washington University-St. Louis on Saturday. The Yellowjackets take on Chicago and Case Western Reserve in Sunday's matches.

Against Brockport, Rochester's most accurate hitting set was the first one, which ended in an eight-point victory (25-17). The Yellowjackets hit .250 for that set. They ran off mini-spurts of 4-0 and 5-0 to take command.

In the second set, UR hit in the negative numbers, -0.62. The score was tied at 13-13 before Brockport feasted on three consecutive attack errors by the Yellowjackets. Set three was a bit one-sided. Brockport took command early, winning seven of the first nine points, and won the set by 10. In the final set,
Alara Kocak served UR's only ace of the night to tie the score at 9-9 before the hosts went in front to stay.

Statistically,
Allie DeRubertis had 11 kills, 17 digs, and one block. Kocak had 10 kills and 21 digs to accompany the ace.
Courtney Vidovich had 11 digs and
Sara Apanavicius had 16.
Beth Ghyzel dished 31 assists and added seven kills.
Megan McHugh totaled four blocks – one solo and three block assists.
