Yellowjacket Offense Explodes in 10-0 Win Over Keuka

KEUKA PARK, NY – The University of Rochester field hockey team erupted for ten goals in a 10-0 defeat of Keuka College on Friday afternoon at the Jephson Athletic Complex.

Rochester, ranked 11th in Division III, moves to 6-0 while Keuka falls to 1-4 on the season.  The ten goals are the second most in a single-game in UR field hockey history.  UR did set new school marks for points and assists in a single game though, dishing out nine assists on the ten scores, equaling 29 points for the game.

A trio of Yellowjackets recorded two goals in the game, with Maya Haigis, Jennifer Lee and Emma Schlechter finding the cage twice.  The rest of the scorers were Nancy Bansbach, Nikki Mercer, Juney Lee and Catherine Hauser, with Lee and Hauser notching their first career tallies.

Emma Schlechter
Schlechter had two goals.

Adding to the scoring barrage were Amanda Strenk who had three assists, while Colleen Maillie and Courtney Dunham each picked up two.  Hauser and Mercer each added single assists.

UR's goalkeepers, Kate Kujawa and Abigail Walrond, each split halves but did not face a single Wolves shot.  Kujawa picked up the victory and is now 6-0 on the year.

Keuka used four goalies in the contest.  Kassidy Valentine got the start and made two saves.  Megan Majowski led the keepers with five stops while Aphiew Joyisa and Kiera Fahey each had three saves.  Defender Delaney Draper made a strong defensive save midway through the first half for the Wolves.

Rochester returns to action on Saturday against Juniata College in a matchup being played at the Spooky Nook Complex in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  UR was originally scheduled to play Mary Washington on Sunday, but the Eagles couldn't travel out due to Hurricane Florence, so Juniata, who also had its weekend schedule shuffled, volunteered to be UR's new opponent in a Saturday contest.
