WALTHAM, MA – New York University posted two close victories in a four-set victory over the University of Rochester in the final game of the University Athletic Association Round Robin #1 at Brandeis University.
 
The Yellowjackets took the opener, 25-21, but NYU won three straight: 25-15, 25-20, 25-19. The result gives Rochester an overall record of 14-5, 0-3 in the UAA, while NYU is 12-6, 1-2 in the UAA.
 
Round Robin #2 is scheduled for Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in two weeks. UR will play Washington, Chicago, Brandeis, and Case Western Reserve. The two-round results will form the seeding for the UAA Championships which will be hosted by Rochester on November 2-3.
 
Game stats show Alara Kocak with 12 kills, Allie DeRubertis with 10, Megan McHugh, Courtney Vidovich, and Beth Ghyzel with four. Rochester accumulated nine service aces, four by DeRubertis, two each from Kayla Sell and Sara Apanavicius, and one from Megan Hauer. Ghyzel had 24 assists.
 
Three players had 10 or more digs and two others had nine. Apanavicius had 13 digs, Vidovich dug 12 balls, Ghyzel had 10. DeRubertis and Alara Kocak had nine digs.
